Mystic Empyrean introduces a new paradigm in free-form roleplaying games--character growth and development based purely on roleplay. As your characters develop personality traits such as Wrath, Honesty, Genius, or Solitude, they will gain matched powers, such as the ability to control fire, perceive lies, communicate with machines, and freeze their enemies solid. The development of your personality traits depends on how you are perceived by your fellow players, so you must roleplay your way to the abilities and powers you wish to develop.
World creation is an integrated part of the game experience--Empyrean is damaged and destroyed--a world in ruins. It falls to you and your allies to rebuild the game, and this rebuilding is done as a part of the game, with fully integrated rules for creating the game world right at the table and then playing out adventures in it. Even the world's creators will discover surprises within their realms, using a powerful system of carefully tailored random encounters that leverage the creativity of the group to make the world come alive.
Empyrean requires a Balance Card Set to play. The card set can be printed on a home printer, downloaded in the app store, or bought as a bundle with this product. The Balance Card Set powers random event generation and conflict resolution within Empyrean in a free-form, numberless fashion that promotes storytelling and creativity. |
