This game recreates the battle which was, forgive the boldness, certainly the most important of the Reconquest, and which had the character of a crusade promoted by the Archbishop of Toledo, Jiménez de Rada, and to which Christians came not only from all the peninsular kingdoms, but also brave soldiers from different parts of Europe came to this call.
The game represents the pitched battle that took place in the vicinity of Las Navas de Tolosa on Monday 16 July 1212, once the Christians had managed to cross the pass from the Sierra Morena to the upper valley of the Guadalquivir, after circumventing the Muslims who were blocking the passes thanks to an unguarded road, which a frontiersman in the area indicated to the Christian army. The game therefore begins with the deployment of both armies, facing each other, ready for the confrontation.
Este juego recrea la batalla que fue, perdonen el atrevimiento, con seguridad la más importante de la Reconquista, y que tuvo un carácter de cruzada impulsado por el arzobispo de Toledo, Jiménez de Rada, y a la que acudieron cristianos no solo de la totalidad de los reinos peninsulares, sino que también acudieron a esta llamada aguerridos soldados de distintos lugares de Europa.
El juego representa la batalla campal que se originó en las cercanías de Las Navas de Tolosa el lunes 16 de julio de 1212, una vez que los cristianos lograron atravesar el paso desde Sierra Morena al alto valle del Guadalquivir, tras sortear a los musulmanes que bloqueaban los pasos gracias a un camino no vigilado, que un frontero de la zona indica al ejército cristiano. El juego, por tanto, comienza con el despliegue de ambos ejércitos, uno frente a otro, dispuestos para el enfrentamiento. |
