Produktbeschreibung

The war in Vietnam is most often associated as an American war, and with good reason. Yet while the battles raging in the hills and valleys of southeast Asia were predominantly fought by American and Vietnamese troops, the United States did have allied help. Australians and New Zealanders, all under the ANZAC command, played an important role in the war that not only changed Vietnam, but also changed the homelands of everyone involved.

While the Australian government had been a supporter of the French sponsored government in the early ‘50s direct ANZAC involvement began in 1962 as the first Australian military advisers to the South Vietnamese Army were sent to Asia. Two years later the Australians increased the number of military advisers to better prepare for the coming storm. Also in 1964 the first Australian to die from enemy action in Vietnam, Warrant Officer Class 2, Kevin Conway, is killed. From 1964 onwards the Australian government then began to send actual combat forces, the first of which was an infantry battalion. In 1965 Australian forces numbered over 4,000, and in 1967 a New Zealand rifle company (V Company, 1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Regiment) entered the fray.

Like the Americans the Australians were often faced with overwhelming odds in battle, but thanks to a longstanding history of courage and valor the Diggers would carry the day. In the Battle of Long Tan (August 18th, 1966) 108 Australian troopers battled an estimated 2500 NVA and VC forces. At the conclusion nearly 250 enemy combatant corpses were left on the battlefield, while the Australians suffered only 18 casualties. In 1969 the Australians were faced with savage urban combat against North Vietnamese regulars in the Battle of Binh Bah. One Australian is killed, in exchange for 100 dead NVA troopers.

In ANZAC Attack, the first official expansion to the award winning boardgame of modern warfare, Mark H. Walker’s Lock ‘N Load, Forgotten Heroes: Vietnam, gamers get a chance to command the ANZAC forces that fought in the Vietnam conflict. Featuring new counters, new scenarios, and a handful of new rules, the expansion adds plenty of bang for the buck.

Besides allowing players to game battles that rarely even get a passing mention unless you’re Australian, ANZAC Attack also provides players with new USMC and Communist forces, scenarios featuring the Marines and also ARVN specific battles, and clarifications to the original game. Keeping true to the mantra of 'More Game, Less Guff' gamers will be able to jump right into the expansion with minimal fuss.

Fans of Mark H. Walker’s Lock ‘N Load, Forgotten Heroes: Vietnam will definitely want to sign up for another tour of duty with ANZAC Attack.
