Aircraft have been a true labour of love for us as we decided almost eighteen months ago to do them but only if they were going to get done well. On the surface a plane and tank may seem similar but the process is so much more complicated for planes we have taken almost a whole year to go from starting the project to releasing them.
The end result has been worth the wait as the four planes we have produced give any FOW gamer all the planes they would ever need for the game. Given 2nd Ed also allowed us to fix how aircraft work as they were never very balanced they now play a more reliable part in the game.
Each Flight box includes three resin planes, flying stands, variant metal parts, an airplane dice and a decal sheet to give all three planes unique numbering. As you can see below the box sets are in our new style with artwork covers and 100% images of the actual planes on the back.
The last issue to cover with the planes is that they are 1/144th scale and not 1/100th. The reason for this is simple. At 1/100th they dominate the table too much and overwhelm the other models. At 1/144th they look great and sit on their flying stands with enough presence to do the job but fit far better into the game.

Flames of War is a games that allows you to recreate the battles of World War II using miniatures figurines, and so experience the war from the point of view of a front-line company commander.
Your miniatures troops will move about the tabletop battlefield, taking cover from enemy fire and then blasting back in return. Sometimes they will abandon you as soon as the going gets tough. But by using the sort of tactics and cunning that a real-life commander would, you and your miniatures soldiers will fight their way to victory after victory!

Scenery and tabletop gaming go hand in hand and FOW is no exception. During WWII battles were fought in every imaginable environment from the deserts of the Sahara to the frozen wastes of Siberia. Being able to convert any basic board into these environments is a simple task when you have a focal point to play round. This is how we have approached the first of our releases under the "Battlefield In A Box" range as we have tried to create a focal point for the two most fought over mid-war areas.
Each set contains a pre-painted set of buildings, walls and accessories to turn any green or yellow table with basic scenery on it into a FOW table. We chose the contents of each set based on a size of box, the same as an army deal, and price point to make them appeal not just to gamers with huge budgets but to all players who would love to make their own scenery but simply never find the time.
As the first sets of this kind in the marketplace we are going to do them as a limited run and depending on how the market reacts we will then make the items available separately or put the sets on sale as permanent parts of the range. These two sets will be followed by a Normandy set of bunkers and defences with the Normandy campaign book in November.
